Hops
Hops are fruit which are grown on a tree and are highly effective when trying to go to sleep. Germany are the top producers in the world for hops. Hops are easy to find and are inexpensive. You can buy dried hops on Amazon .There is very little awareness on this remedy in the USA and UK, but it's a popular folk remedy in other countries. They are mainly used in the brewing of beer. They have been featured on BBC James Wong's How to Grow Your Own Drugs and he has tested them on several people suffering from severe insomnia. The majority to all of people slept a lot better after sleeping beside a pillow filled with hops. They really do work from the word go. Even putting them in your kitchen could cause you to feel drowsy! It really is a wonder remedy and I'm sure they could work for you. Here are the steps to making your own hops pillow:
1. Place some hops in a bag of muslin or cloth. Tie the bag.
2. Place the bag near your pillow and go to sleep!
3. You should see a definite improvement.
4. If not, try some other remedies below.
In fact, hops are so effective that the workers collecting hops from the trees in Germany, fell asleep beside the tree! Just to warn you that they are toxic to dogs so keep them away from dogs!
A Real Formula A Deeper Sleep!
Lavender
Lavender (also known as Lavendula) is a highly acclaimed method for making you sleep better. Lavender flowers and seeds aid sleep and relaxation and cause a soothing effect. There are lavender essential oils out there that you can buy. You simply sprinkle a few drops of the oil on your bed or pillow and allow the fragrance to disperse. The scent of the lavender really relaxes and soothes you. Or, if you want, you can grow lavender and collect a few flowers and put them in a cloth or muslin bag. If you are planning to grow lavender, make sure that you are growing it in dry, well-drained gravel soil in full sun.
Muslin Pillows made of Hops and Lavender
You can make your own muslin bags or pillows as they are more commonly called. You can buy muslin and form a cushion or pillow out of it and filling it with lavender or hops. You can then put a mixture of lavender and hops in the pillow and place it beside your pillow. The lavender and hops soothe and relax you and gently you fall asleep.
Specially-Designed Duvets and Pillows
There are all sorts of duvets and pillows out there that are more specially-designed to help you sleep more comfortably and aren't too hard on your wallet either.
- I think we all hate it when we are too warm and stuffy in our beds. It's impossible to sleep if you are too warm. That's why SilentNight and other companies have created Climate Control duvets. They stay nice and cool so you don't get too stuffy. They are ideal for the summertime and are very light. It's a dream sleeping in one of them.
- There are extra-soft duvets out there too.
- Or ultra-bounce duvets for a more bouncier feel?
- Memory foam is probably the most famous of all. It moulds to the shape of your body and has a lovely feel.
- You can also buy pillows that are softer and have climate control.
Whatever you choose, there is bound to be something there for you whether you want that extra-bounce or a more softer feel.
The Yantra/Acupressure Mat
The Yantra Mat is a new acupressure concept which has been hugely popular in Scandinavia with over one million mats sold in Sweden.Using the map for twenty minutes a day can improve your sleep. A consumer survey carried out in Sweden found that 96% of Yantra Mat users had a better sleep at night. The majority (78%) said that they were going to continue to use their mat regularly.
It consists of 210 spiked flowers and each flower contains 42 pressure points. Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine technique which applies physical pressure to the body's acupoints. The great thing is that this is a safe and natural technique. As well as improving your sleep, it also does the following:
- It may help to relieve stress
- Relieve aches and pains
- Gives you more energy
